Rotorua Joint Venture for Laboratory Services.
The Minister of Health, Mr David Cunliffe has agreed to a joint venture between the Lakes District Health Board and Diagnostic Rotorua Limited to deliver laboratory services in the Rotorua area .
“The 50/50 joint venture will mean more streamlined diagnostic services and better access to pathologists .”said Mr Cunliffe.
“I have only approved this partnership after several rounds of consultation and being finally satisfied that there was no better option..I understand the new structure will provide for an on going sustainable model with an emphasis on recruitment and job security in the Rotorua area”.
“I have also asked the Lakes District Health Board to confirm to me that it has consulted with the people and organisations that will be substantially affected by the services delivered by this new partnership”.
“The agreement will save the District Health Board $408.000 in the first year of its operation and will signal long term job security for laboratory staff.”said Mr Cunliffe.
