Ministers had no knowledge of questions regarding Thompson’s qualifications
Government ministers were unaware of the questions surrounding Mary Anne Thompson’s qualifications until last week, Acting Prime Minister Michael Cullen said today.
“In particular, the issue of former State Services Commissioner Michael Wintringham’s involvement in 2004 over the questions about Ms Thompson’s qualifications was not a matter Ministers were previously aware of,” Dr Cullen said.
“I was told Wednesday about Mr Wintringham’s involvement. I contacted the Prime Minister yesterday who confirmed for me that she also had no knowledge of the former Commissioner’s involvement.”
