Vital Step Towards Justice For Berrymans
New Zealand First MPs are delighted at the judgement issued last night which quashed an earlier finding that Keith and Margaret Berryman were responsible for a fatal bridge collapse on their King Country farm in 1994.
“We at New Zealand First, and particularly our leader Winston Peters, have long called for the Berrymans to receive the justice they deserve and last night’s judgement is a large step towards that,” says New Zealand First MP Ron Mark.
“To finally have the burden of blame for a person’s death lifted is tremendous.
“Congratulations must also go to Dr Rob Moodie for his perseverance in the fight for justice.
“We must be mindful however that the Berrymans have suffered greatly financially and that the stress caused by this saga has had a ruinous effect on their health. Justice will not be done until they receive an adequate settlement for all of their losses.
“Only then will it be time to truly celebrate,” said Mr Mark.
