Maori Party President Reports on Ikaroa Rawhiti Meeting
Statement from the Maori Party President, Professor Whatarangi Winiata
“A very constructive meeting was held with members of the Maori Party in Ikaroa Rawhiti tonight” said Professor Winiata.
“We are humbled by the wisdom of the people” said Professor Winiata. “The people told us, ‘this is fixable’”.
“We have listened and we will give the issues deep thought in order for us all to move forward in the pursuit of kotahitanga”.
“The hui gave emphasis to the value of upholding mana wahine alongside mana tane” said Professor Winiata.
“The hui affirmed the expression of manaakitanga, kotahitanga, rangatiratanga and whanaungatanga”.
