Sex Offending by Immigrants Disturbing
New Zealand First is deeply disturbed by the high level of sex offending by members of New Zealand’s immigrant community, says the party’s associate immigration spokesperson Peter Brown.
Figures obtained from the Department of Corrections show that more than one third of non-citizens currently in jail are there as a result of sexual offending.
“These figures are deeply disturbing, and, quite frankly, shocking,” said Mr Brown.
“Particularly repugnant is the fact that sixty percent of the non-citizen sex offenders had offended against children or teens aged under 16.
“While such actions may be acceptable elsewhere in the world, they are not ok here. It is a sad fact that many of our recent arrivals need to have it spelt out that women and children in New Zealand are not fair game,” said Mr Brown
