Ikaroa Rawhiti Nominees for the Maori Party
Maori Party Ikaroa Rawhiti Electorate Committee delighted with the strong pool of contenders to contest a hot seat
Saturday 9 February 2008; 3.00pm
Electorate Chairman, Gordon Paku, has today confirmed what he has described as an 'impressive line-up' to campaign to be the Maori Party candidate for Ikaroa Rawhiti.
“We have accepted applications to enter our candidate selection process, from five out-standing candidates” said Mr Paku.
The candidates to compete for the seat are: Keriana Tawhiwhirangi; Atareta Poananga; Derek Fox, Mereana Pitman and Glenis Philip-Barbara.
“The competition to take the seat will be fiercely contested within our own party – let alone the General Elections later in the year” said Mr Paku.
“We will be show-casing these five candidates right around Ikaroa Rawhiti, with a road-show due to start on 2 March”.
Details of the roadshow are available from Electorate Secretary and Convenor of the Hui, Joan-Ella Ngata; on joanella@xtra.co.nz; or telephone 0274-808-293.
“We can’t wait to get this show on the road” said Mr Paku. “Mr Horomia better start brushing up his CV!”.
