King response on Solicitor-General's decision
Police Minister Annette King says she welcomes the statements made today by the Solicitor-General Dr David Collins QC and Police Commissioner Howard Broad.
"I particularly welcome the Solicitor-General's comment that the NZ Police acted properly in deciding to investigate certain 'very disturbing activities' and in referring evidence to him.
"I myself have great confidence in the integrity of the Police Commissioner and his staff and I am pleased to see that endorsed by the Solicitor-General.
"Because a number of cases are yet to be heard I am not prepared to make comments that may be prejudicial to a fair outcome and I urge other commentators and politicians to show the same restraint.
"The people who have been charged, and the NZ Police, deserve that consideration."
