NZ First Secures Funding Increase In Eldercare Sector
New Zealand First health spokesperson Barbara Stewart has welcomed the announcement of the largest ever investment of
$150 million over four years to the Aged Residential Care sector in Budget 2007.
“Addressing the eldercare sector has been marked as a matter of priority in New Zealand First’s Confidence and Supply
agreement with the Government and budget 2007 provides a large step towards addressing problems in the sector,” said Mrs
Stewart.
“The specific reference in the budget documents to the workforce that cares for those in elder care is also important as
the wages paid to these workers is an area which requires urgent attention.
“New Zealand First will continue to strive for the needs of the eldercare sector to ensure that our seniors are treated
with the services and dignity they deserve,” said Mrs Stewart.
