Party pills - a bad export
BZP is an export New Zealanders should not be proud of, says National MP Jacqui Dean.
She is commenting on media reports that at least seven million New Zealand-manufactured party pills have been exported
to Britain.
“BZP is a cattle worming product that has unpredictable and serious side effects,” says Mrs Dean.
“In New Zealand party pills are unlicensed with no safeguard for the quality or safety of the drug - and now we’re
shipping them off overseas.
“It’s nothing to be pleased about.
“What is urgently needed is tighter controls and regulations surrounding the sale and marketing of party pills.
“Current regulations are soft and allow far too much room for those in the business of selling party pills to use
misleading and dangerous tactics to attract customers.
“New Zealand is facing a serious problem, which the Labour Government continues to drag its heels on.
“Jim Anderton needs to listen to the advice that BZP based party pills can cause severe adverse effects, and do
something about it.”
