Lots of MP chatter but no will to act on climate change
MPs were so busy trying to score political points during question time today that they missed a huge opportunity to
actually take some tangible steps on climate change, the Green Party says.
All six Green MPs attempted to have one of their six-pack of climate change private member's bills tabled for
discussion, but each time the move was blocked by other parties, Co-Leader Jeanette Fitzsimons says.
"I am pleased to see that United Future has finally caught on that climate change is an urgent and important issue, and
it's nice to see that Peter Dunne has renewed the call that I made in March this year for a cross-party accord.
"It seems that everyone's new-found enthusiasm for climate change stretches no further than talk and publicity seeking.
There is a definite lack of willingness from any party - except the Greens - to actually take some action."
