Appointments to NZ on Air Board
Broadcasting Minister Steve Maharey today announced the appointment of Neil Walter and Rhonda Kite to the NZ On Air
Board.
“The new board members bring strong governance skills and industry knowledge and experience to the Board," Steve Maharey
said.
"Neil Walter has been appointed as a Board member and Chair-designate for a three-year term from 1 December 2006,
becoming Chair on 1 January 2007.
"A former Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Neil Walter currently chairs the Environmental Risk Management Authority. He is
an Honorary Fellow of the School of Government at Victoria University and has served as Director on a number of Boards
including the Trade Development Board, the Asia New Zealand Foundation and the Institute of Policy studies. He is also
currently a member of the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Biosecurity.
"Neil Walter replaces retiring Chair Don Hunn who has been a huge asset to the Board over the past four and a half
years. His skilful governance and oversight of NZ On Air along with his commitment and wisdom have been greatly
appreciated,” Steve Maharey said.
"Rhonda Kite has been appointed to the Board until 1 January 2010. Of Te Aupouri descent, she was awarded the Maori
Business Woman of the Year in 2001/2002 and is an experienced and award-winning television and film producer. Rhonda
Kite is currently on the Screen Production and Development Association, and Women in Film and Television Executive's.
