Labour bureaucracy failing to halt power price hikes
The bureaucracy established by Labour around energy policy is failing to halt the spiralling price of electricity if the latest Transpower increase is anything to go by, says National Party Energy spokesman Gerry Brownlee.
Transpower has told the Commerce Commission that it is advising customers today of its proposed prices for 2006/07 and 2007/08.
“Approval of the 12% price increase on the basis that it accords with pricing guidelines is simply confirmation that Labour’s bureaucracy will result in prices continuing to spiral up ahead of inflation,” says Mr Brownlee.
