Dream Team Needs To Wake Up To MMP Reality Or Remain Hollow Men
National's so-called "dream team" will very quickly find itself in an electoral nightmare unless they ditch the secret
radical agendas and come to terms with the realities of MMP, says New Zealand First leader Winston Peters.
"National's new leadership must shed its straight jacket of rigid ideology, deceit and surreptitious agendas.
"Its failed strategy of the past of trying to con the voters through secret deals, big money and hidden schemes must end
and be replaced instead with the honesty and integrity of past National parties," said Mr Peters.
"While National will be last cab off the rank, there is now hope that the party after 10 years of failure can embrace
MMP and actually learn to work with other parties.
"Let us hope that the Brash strategy of pilfered policies, uttered in ignorance, will be banished, replaced by reasoned
debate and leadership that can actually front up in parliament – not just the Rotary rostrum.
"National has been subject to faceless puppet-masters for far too long. The time is now right for the new leadership to
put a stake in the ground and join the MMP club. If Mr Key can make the transition from money trader to trading in
political currency there may be hope for National yet. Time will tell," concluded Mr Peters.
