Go Hamilton!
New Zealand First is pleased that Hamilton City has jumped through all the hoops required, and has secured resource consent to hold the V8 Supercar event from 2008.
“Hamilton has succeeded where other larger cities failed, and that success is founded on the hard work and diligence of Mayor Michael Redman and his council, and the support of the city’s ratepayers and residents,” said Hamilton-based List MP Doug Woolerton.
“There is no question that this event will put Hamilton on the international map, and a signature event like this is invaluable for its ability to promote the city.
“I hope that the Government will see fit to contribute financially to this event, as it is no less worthy than other major sporting events that receive Government support.
“I am looking forward to seeing the V8s racing around the streets of Hamilton, and am excited about the many positive spin-offs they will bring to the city for many years to come,” said Mr Woolerton.
