Local Member of Parliament for Te Tai Hauauru, Tariana Turia, was preparing for a day of celebrations at Maungarongo Marae in Ohakune, to take place this coming Monday 6 November.
“I am really proud to join with Whanganui iwi in celebrating the success of our hauora providers in their dedicated service to their communities” said Mrs Turia.
Last week, Te Puke Karanga Hauora, of Pipiriki Marae, celebrated its ten year birthday, while on Monday, Ngati Rangi Community Health in Ohakune is celebrating its tenth year.
“I am really delighted, not just that they have demonstrated their success, but they are also able to measure the impact they have made on their communities” said Mrs Turia.
“And in doing so, they have gained legitimacy in the eyes of their communities – the people recognise these services as doing all that they can to help them achieve glowing health and well-being”.
“Another reason for celebrating, is the successful accreditation of both Ngati Rangi Community Health Centre, and Taumarunui Community Kokiri Trust, by the Quality Improvement Council of Australasia” said Mrs Turia.
“These two centres have gone through the Te Wana quality programme, which uses a peer review system to assess the capacity of organisations” said Mrs Turia.
“It is a way of measuring the difference that our organisations are making; the quality of the service they are giving to their community”.
“I am really thrilled at the impressive results we are seeing across Whanganui rohe, and I congratulate everyone involved in making hauora such a priority”.
Mrs Turia will be attending the 10 year celebration and accreditation for Ngati Rangi Community Health Centre Inc which takes place at Maungarongo Marae, 36 Burns Street, Ohakune on Monday 6 November 2006. Powhiri 1pm.
