Resignation Of IRD Commissioner David Butler
Revenue Minister Peter Dunne says IRD commissioner David Butler will be extremely difficult to replace.
He was commenting after Mr Butler's resignation to take up a senior post within the OECD next year.
"I very regret his departure, as he has been an outstanding chief executive and has led the Inland Revenue Department with considerable distinction.
"However, I warmly congratulate him on his new appointment, and wish him every success in the role," Mr Dunne says.
Mr Dunne says he has known Mr Butler since he took up the Commissioner's role six years ago.
"His open, down to earth, style impressed me from the beginning, and I have especially enjoyed the last year as Minister working closely with him.
"IRD is a far better place today for his leadership than when he took over, and he has set a very high standard for his successor to follow," Mr Dunne says.
