National continues negative campaign
Steve Maharey says National's latest billboard campaign shows their negative approach to politics, backed by big money interests, will continue through to the next election.
"National is demonstrating, yet again, that it has a lot of money and intends to use it, not to focus on the issues, but to run negative personal attacks," Steve Maharey said.
"This is not an agenda of ideas and vision. National's campaign represents the narrow interests of a wealthy few determined to do whatever it takes to get into power.
"New Zealanders have made it clear they are sick of this approach to politics. But as usual we are looking at the interests of big money driving the National party agenda."
Steve Maharey said that while National was getting back into the gutter, Labour was focussing on real issues.
"If you want a contrast just look at we're we've been focussing our energy this week.
"Helen Clark has been responding to a major report on climate change, Michael Cullen is at a Budget forum with key business leaders, I've been hosting a major research and business summit, along with eight other Ministers, talking about how we can lift investment in R
"Labour doesn't intend to be distracted by this, but we will not accept this kind of ongoing character assassination that serves very narrow interests."
