Don Brash back on deck
National Party Leader Don Brash has resumed his official programme following two days of special leave, expressing thanks to colleagues for giving him "some much needed family space".
"I want to thank my colleagues and the many other New Zealanders who have communicated their support to my family and me in recent days. I am now looking forward to getting back to work and resuming my official duties.
"Subject as always to the support of my colleagues, I remain committed to providing leadership for the National Party and am pleased to say that my family supports me in this decision.
"I very much regret the style of politics that has contributed to these events. I have, as already reported, made very clear that my colleagues should not respond in kind.
“I came into politics to deal with the important issues facing New Zealand, and do not want the public debate on these matters to be diverted.”
Dr Brash is undertaking a number of appointments in the Mt Roskill electorate with National List MP Dr Jackie Blue, and tomorrow he will address the Young Nationals’ conference in Auckland.
