Damien O'Connor Offers Condolences
West Coast-Tasman MP Damien O'Connor said he would like to offer his deepest sympathies to the family of a coalminer killed today in a tragic accident near Greymouth.
"My thoughts are very much with the man's family, friends and co-workers, who will be devastated at their loss. He was a well-liked member of the community.
"Mining is a very challenging industry where safety is paramount. I know every effort is made to make the environment as secure as possible.
"I applaud the efforts of the rescue team who worked so swiftly to recover his body."
