Justice is finally done in motorcade case
National Party Law & Order spokesman Simon Power is delighted that justice has finally been done in the Prime Ministerial motorcade case.
“These guys never deserved a conviction for doing their jobs. The whole sorry circus could have been avoided if Helen
Clark had taken some responsibility, as embarrassing as it might have been, at the time.
“This should never have happened. Helen Clark hung them out to dry. The mind boggles at how much public and private
money has been spent on the case.
“I’d think Cabinet would need to have more than a casual ‘whip ‘round’ to cover the legal expenses.
“It’s worth noting that of all those involved, Helen Clark is the only one who hasn’t had to front up in court to give
evidence. Even her chief press secretary did.”
Mr Power says the Prime Minister should apologise to the staff involved.
“Surely after so long the Prime Minister could admit she should have handled things better?”
