Brash's distortions at odds with yesterday’s spin
Labour strategist Pete Hodgson said Don Brash has now lost all credibility by demanding Taito Phillip Field leave
Parliament immediately after yesterday saying he should not be ‘hounded out’ without a full inquiry.
“Don Brash is lost in his own spin. He clearly can’t remember, from one day to another, what he said or what he wants.
“Yesterday the National Leader said that Phillip Field should not be forced from Parliament without more investigation,
saying: ‘I think even for Mr Field’s sake it’s not fair that he’s hounded out of Parliament on the basis of baseless
allegations’.
“Yet, today, Dr Brash is demanding that Mr Field be sacked from Parliament immediately. So after conceding yesterday
that the allegations may be baseless, today he wants Mr Field taken away and shot.
“Dr Brash is even claiming collusion between the government and the police – which is utterly ridiculous – after
National’s been touting to media for weeks how Lockwood Smith has supposedly been working with the police. It’s bizarre.
“Don Brash needs to calm down and let justice take its course. We actually agree with his spin from yesterday. The
police inquiry will look at all the allegations and make a judgment. We welcome that,” Mr Hodgson said.
