Dyson to attend ILO Asian Regional Meeting
Minister of Labour Ruth Dyson is visiting South Korea to take part in an International Labour Organization meeting and to meet with Korean gender equality and health and welfare ministers.
The Minister is today meeting in Seoul with the Korean Minister for Gender Equality Jang Ha-jin and with the Minister for Health and Welfare Ryhu Si-min, to discuss areas of interest within her other porfolios of senior citizens and disability issues.
Ruth Dyson will then travel to Busan to attend the 14th Asian Regional Meeting of the International Labour Organization which starts tomorrow.
Ruth Dyson will join government, worker and employer leaders from some 40 Asian, Pacific and Arab countries to discuss a wide range of employment and workplace issues in the region.
“This is a great opportunity for me to share my ideas and experiences with my Asian region counterparts and vice versa,” said Ms Dyson.
The meeting discussions will focus on the themes of promoting productivity, decent work, adapting and modernising labour laws and labour market institutions and extending social protection.
