Singapore-NZ double tax agreement updated
New Zealand’s 1973 double tax agreement with Singapore has been updated to cover entities providing consultancy services, Revenue Minister Peter Dunne announced today.
The amending protocol, which was signed in September 2005, enters into force today, 17 August 2006.
“The agreement will now cover New Zealand entities providing consultancy services in Singapore and Singaporean entities providing those services in New Zealand, thus resolving certain difficulties over the interpretation of the agreement,” Mr Dunne said.
“Singapore is one of our major trading partners, and I welcome this important development,” Mr Dunne said.
The text of the amending protocol is available at www.taxpolicy.ird.govt.nz.
