Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment
Dr Morgan Williams, Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment, has announced he will not seek a third five-year
term of office.
The Speaker and Chair of the Officers of Parliament Committee, Hon Margaret Wilson, said the position would be
advertised next week.
Ms Wilson said Dr Williams had agreed to stay on until after the celebrations planned for late February to early March
next year to mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of a Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment.
‘I am very pleased that Dr Williams has agreed to stay for the 20th anniversary celebrations,’ she said. ‘He has been
instrumental in putting together a world-class programme for this important event and it is quite appropriate that he
should stay for the occasion.
‘In his 10 years as Parliamentary Commissioner, Dr Williams has made a lasting contribution to the big environmental
debates of the decade.
‘On behalf of his Parliamentary colleagues, I thank him and wish him well.’
