Nick Smith wrong again
Minister Responsible for Climate Change Issues David Parker said today opposition claims that New Zealand's deficit under the Kyoto Protocol had increased were completely wrong.
"On the contrary, as I told a press conference last week, the last official estimate in December 2005 was 64 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent and the initial numbers for the 2006 update show that we now expect a lower carbon deficit than we did six months ago."
Mr Parker said the 2006 net position report was being finalised now and would be released shortly.
