Appointment of Judge of the High court
Pamela Jean Andrews has been appointed a Judge of the High Court, Acting Attorney-General Trevor Mallard announced
today.
Justice Andrews graduated with an LLB from Victoria University of Wellington in 1982. She joined the Wellington law firm
Luke Cunningham and Clere, leaving that firm in 1985 to take up a position with Kensington Swan. She became a partner in
that firm in 1988.
Before graduating in the law, Justice Andrews held various roles including with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in their
External Aid Division. She also worked as a translator in Bern, Switzerland for a time.
Justice Andrews has been a part time member of the Refugee Status Appeals Authority since 2003. She has practised
extensively in insolvency, professional regulation and general commercial and property litigation and is co-author of
the Brookers publication, Civil Litigation Practice and Procedure.
The new Judge will sit in Auckland.
