Primary school dates for 2007
Primary school term dates for next year have been amended, says Education Minister Steve Maharey.
The holidays between terms 1 and 2 will now be a full two weeks. Primary schools’ first term will still end on Thursday 5 April 2007.
The second term will begin a week later than originally planned and will now start on Monday 23 April 2007. This will now be the same for secondary schools.
Steve Maharey said that he made the change after listening to feedback from parents, schools and education sector groups that the planned April break for primary schools was too short.
The change applies to next year only, with further consultation about term dates for 2008 and beyond.
Term dates for 2007 will be:
Primary, intermediate and secondary schools terms 1-3
Term 1
Wednesday February 7 to Thursday April 5
Term 2
Monday April 23 to Friday June 29
Term 3
Monday July 16 to Friday September 21.
Term 4
Primary and intermediate, Monday October 8 to Thursday December 20 or Friday December 21, depending on whether provincial Anniversary Days are in term time.
Secondary, Monday October 8 to Friday December 14.
