Anderton must apologise

Anderton must apologise
National Party Veterans Affairs spokeswoman Judith Collins says she is still waiting for an apology from Mr Anderton after his false claim that no National MP has ever sought an honour for war hero Nancy Wake.
"On Thursday Mr Anderton said in a statement he had checked with the Honours Secretariat and been told that only one MP had recommended Miss Wake for an honour, and it wasn't a National MP.
“He is one hundred per cent wrong.
"I have repeatedly called for Nancy Wake to be given the recognition that she deserves for her bravery in occupied France during the Second World War.
"Contrary to Mr Anderton's claim, I wrote to the Honours Secretariat on 16 February, 2006, seeking that she be honoured. I've also had a reply confirming that my letter was received."
Mr Anderton’s bungle has rubbed more salt into the raw wounds of those hurt by his previous insulting comments on this matter.
“This is the Year of the Veteran for Pete’s sake. Mr Anderton should eat humble pie, accept he is wrong and join the campaign to get the White Mouse the recognition she deserves,” says Ms Collins.
