Dalziel proves regulation review is just another talkfest
National Party Commerce spokeswoman, Pansy Wong, says comments by Lianne Dalziel today show the Government’s latest regulation review really is just another talkfest.
She is commenting on today’s Commerce select committee hearing appearance by Commerce Minister Lianne Dalziel.
“Lianne Dalziel said that any solutions proposed by business as a result of the review will not be accepted if they involve policy backdowns,” says Mrs Wong.
“The Government’s prior refusal to accept the 90-day litigation free employment conditions proposed by the Small Business Advisory Group is proof they don’t really want to change.
“The Business Compliance Cost panel was set up in 2000 with a running cost of $490,000 and with a further $2 million to implement their recommendations to reduce compliance costs.
“The problem really lies is with Labour policy. If Labour isn’t willing to back down on anything, this latest talkfest won’t achieve anything,” says Mrs Wong.
