What’s the hold-up with Field report?
National Party Immigration spokesman Lockwood Smith says it’s time for Helen Clark to justify the long delay in the public release of the draft report into the activities of Taito Phillip Field.
“Every time she’s been asked about it Helen Clark has kicked for touch. This is now getting beyond a joke.”
Dr Smith is commenting in the wake of reports this morning of behind the scenes friction in the Labour camp over the report done by Noel Ingram QC.
“The longer this is left, the more people will speculate that the hold-up is the result of a political stand-off within Labour.”
Dr Smith says this was supposed to be a quick report with a quick report back.
“I think the public are now owed an explanation about why a matter of such public interest is being held up.”
