Appointment of Queen's Counsel
Brian Keene and Bruce Gray have been appointed Queen’s Counsel, Attorney-General Michael Cullen announced today.
Brian Keene graduated from Auckland University and joined the law firm Morpeth Gould, becoming the litigation partner in
1973. He moved to the independent bar in 1993.
Mr Keene specialises in public securities and takeovers work, company law, professional liability and arbitration and
mediation. He has been actively involved in the Auckland District Law Society and is a regular contributor to the New
Zealand Law Journal.
Bruce Gray graduated from Auckland University and joined the law firm Buddle Weir, becoming a partner of Bell Gully in
1985. He became a barrister sole in 2002, specialising in telecommunications and competition law, media law and
defamation, tort and liability and sports law.
Mr Gray is a council member on the Legal Research Foundation as well as a member of the editorial board of the New
Zealand Law Review.
