United Future in gun over microchipping
It's now up to United Future to show they aren't the Government's poodles over the plan to microchip all dogs, says
National Agriculture spokesman David Carter.
Mr Carter has had an amendment drafted that will exempt all dogs from microchipping.
National will put its amendment - along with another exempting farm working dogs - up for consideration when the issue
is voted on next month.
"United Future hold the balance of power on this issue. They call themselves the common sense party but there's no
common sense if they are going to force all dogs to be microchipped," says Mr Carter.
"I call on United Future to ensure this ludicrous plan is not inflicted on any dog, particularly the farm working dogs
they promised to keep exempt."
"Already today we've had Mayors from the Wairarapa here at Parliament meeting United Future to express their opposition
to microchipping of any dog.
"United Future can expect to be lobbied hard by others as well in coming weeks."
