Police ignoring of tinny house inexcusable
It is inexcusable that police did not respond to a string of complaints from people living near a drug ‘tinny house’in
an Otara street, says National’s Law & Order spokesman, Simon Power.
He is commenting on a report in the Herald on Sunday today.
“According to reports, this tinny house had up to 40 people visit in just 2 ½ hours. Police are yet to respond to recent
complaints.
“This lack of response is not good enough.
“Surely police must have known, just by the number and frequency of complaints, that something big was going on here.
“No excuse is good enough. Without investigating they couldn’t have known what sort of drugs were being dealt in this
suburban street with young kids all around.
“We must stamp out these drug dealers. Getting rid of them must be a higher priority for the police than it seems to
have been in this case.
“I would like the Police Minister to explain what happened here,” says Mr Power.
