Musician Midge Marsden after being invested as Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit. His citation reads: "For services to music. Mr Marsden’s rhythm and blues career spans over 40 years and he is known for his high-energy guitar, harmonica and vocal performances. He has played countless concerts in New Zealand and overseas and performed with many of the world’s leading artists including Eric Clapton and BB King. He was voted New Zealand Entertainer of the year and his critically acclaimed “Burning Gold” album went gold in 1990. He has fostered local musicians with his bands and currently teaches music at the Waikato Institute of Technology."
