Lucy Lawless honoured

Lucy Lawless displays the Insignia of a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit at Government House in Auckland. Her
citation reads: "For services to entertainment and the community. Lucy Lawless has had a long film, stage and television
career in New Zealand, Canada and the Unites States.
She is most famous for creating the role of Xena in the series Hercules and the 6-year season of Xena, Warrior
Princess, both American television series which were shot in New Zealand. She has also made several stage appearances
and tours.
She is on the Board of Trustees of the Starship Children’s Hospital in Auckland and promoted a Starship Foundation/Sky
City fundraising campaign for Puawaitahi, New Zealand’s first multi-agency centre for abused children. She was patron
and speaker at the Women in Film and Television International Summit in Auckland in April 2004."
