Brash applauds Oscar successes
National Party Leader Don Brash has congratulated New Zealand's Oscar winners and nominees, saying this year's success will cement New Zealand's place as a nation of great film-making talent.
"For the fifth consecutive year New Zealand has shone at the Oscars - a wonderful achievement that all New Zealanders can take great pride in.
"I want to make special mention of Richard Taylor, whose work through Weta Workshops is a perfect example of how far good old-fashioned Kiwi ingenuity can go.
"The success of our films and filmmakers has dispelled the notion that because we are a small country we cannot compete on the world stage. We have always known that's not the case, and now the world knows it," says Dr Brash
