Second reading of NZ Sign Language Bill
Ruth Dyson, Minister for Disability Issues, will today lead the parliamentary speeches during the second reading debate
of the New Zealand Sign Language Bill.
The second reading of this Bill is scheduled after Question Time (about 3.15pm) in Parliament, Wellington.
New Zealand Sign Language interpreters will interpret the debate and it will be broadcast live over the internet at:

The aim of the New Zealand Sign Language Bill is to provide official recognition of Deaf people’s language as a unique
New Zealand language and give it status equal to that of spoken languages.
