Grim Reaper's Contribution Offers No Solutions
All that was missing from Don Brash's latest Orewa offering was the melodramatics of a dark cloak and sharp dagger as he simply reinforced his status as the 'grim reaper' of New Zealand politics, says the Rt Hon Winston Peters
“The negativity and jaundiced view of this country in his speech highlights first hand why the majority of New Zealanders got it right in ensuring he did not become Prime Minister,” said Mr Peters.
“Having read the speech carefully to look for any semblance of rational argument or viable solutions, one can only reach the conclusion that Don Brash has decided to speed up the inevitable and make it easier for his successors to roll him.
“How else can you explain such a pitiful effort?
“As for his ridiculous attempted foray into immigration, he really must pay more attention to New Zealand First next time to learn how to do it properly. Imitation only works if you get it right. For Dr Brash's information, New Zealand First has already secured a full-scale review of immigration.
“We in New Zealand First can't wait for the House to sit again. In fact we hope National hurries up and changes its leader because there is no sport in targeting a lame duck,” concluded Mr Peters.
