Re-Appointments to the Commerce Commission
Minister of Commerce Lianne Dalziel today announced two re-appointments to the Commerce Commission.
“Peter Taylor and Donal Curtin have ably applied their skills in the financial, business and governance areas to competition issues and their re-appointments will provide the Commission with a continuity of knowledge and experience,” Lianne Dalziel said.
Peter Taylor is an accountant, self-employed company director and consultant with over 35 years business management and restructuring experience. He has worked in large corporates, small to medium sized enterprises and in government. He previously worked for Cable Price Downer Ltd and is a past Director and Managing Partner of the Wellington office of Ernst and Young and is Chair of the Public Trust and Deputy Chair of the New Zealand Venture Investment Fund. He has been re-appointed for a four-year term commencing on 1 February 2006.
Donal Curtin is a business economist and professional director with wide experience. Mr Curtin worked in a variety of economist roles before immigrating to New Zealand in 1985 and to take up the role as the Bank of New Zealand's Chief Economist. He later headed the bank’s National Financial Adviser team. In 1999 Mr Curtin set up Auckland-based consultancy, Economics New Zealand. In 2002 he was appointed as the Monetary Policy Adviser to Parliament’s Finance and Expenditure Select Committee and in 2004 as a Director of the Public Trust. Donal Curtin has been re-appointed for three years commencing on 21 December 2005.
