Today's announcement that the Labour Government will not go ahead with the carbon tax is a victory for all New
Zealanders, says ACT leader Rodney Hide.
"The decision today not to implement the proposed carbon tax is a victory for Kiwi businesses and workers, as well as
common sense," Mr Hide said.
"To keep New Zealand prosperous we need a smaller, smarter government, not one which burdens us with regulations, taxes
and agreements - like the Kyoto protocol - that our trading partners aren't signing up to.
"Kiwis do not need to be burdened with another government money-grab.
"The Kyoto protocol has been signed up to by both National and Labour. ACT has opposed the carbon tax from day one, and
we're glad it's been consigned to the dustbin of history," Mr Hide said.
