Survey a cry for help from frontline police
National's Law & Order spokesman, Simon Power, says the Minister of Police must listen to what frontline police are saying or even more
of them will leave.
He is commenting on a survey in the latest issue of Police News that reveals that a huge proportion of sworn staff is
dissatisfied with both staffing and resources.
"These figures are both a sad indictment on six years of mismanagement and under-resourcing by Labour, and a blunt
warning that they must do very much better - and fast.
"Annette King needs to put her full effort into recruitment and resources.
"When a whopping 96% of frontline police say there are not enough staff on the frontline then we know the situation is
very serious.
"The Minister doesn't want to go the way her predecessor did by pretending everything was okay," says Mr Power.
"This is a cry for help from the police on the street and Annette King needs to listen to it. She would be foolish not
to."
