Now's The Time For Tax Cuts
ACT Leader Rodney Hide says that now is the time for tax cuts, following Treasury's report that Government's operating suplus over the last four months is $3 billion.
"Government has 900 million dollars more than Treasury forecast they would four months ago, but Kiwi families are still struggling to pay the bills," Mr Hide said.
"During the election campaign Michael Cullen told Kiwis he couldn't afford tax cuts. Tax revenue since then has exceeded the forecast by $50 million, and investment income is $439 million more than forecasted.
"Kiwis are overtaxed and over-regulated. We have a greedy government awash with tax money, while workers are crying out for a substantial tax cut.
"Families are being squeezed by high debt and rising mortgage rates - they deserve a tax cut.
"Reducing taxes now would be a Christmas bonus that would benefit our families, businesses and communities," Mr Hide said.
