Tired of Dirty Politics says Tariana Turia
15 September 2005
“People must be sick and tired of John Tamihere’s political grand-standing” said Tariana Turia, Co-leader of the Maori Party.
“For a politican to hire young people for $180 to deface the billboards of Dr Pita Sharples, shows you how desperate this person is; using the very youth that he claims to help to break the law”.
“People will see this for what it is”.
“This is political desperation at the eleventh hour. It is dirty politics from the Labour Camp, and the country has had enough of this type of politicking”.

Refers to earlier Statement from Dr Pita Sharples; 15 September 2005
““The Maori Party have laid charges against Wyn Anania and John Tamihere for paying people to deface the Maori Party bill-boards.
"Our signs were damaged. The evidence we have is that the damage was caused by people acting for John Tamihere. We have also been given information that the Electorate Agent for Mr Tamihere, Wyn Anania, was paying people $180 to deface the signs".
We have given the information to the Police and the Chief Electoral Officer. They will conduct their own investigations into the matter of criminal damage.”
