Maharey reveals Labour's true agenda
National's Welfare spokeswoman, Judith Collins, says Steve Maharey has laid his cards on the table by stating that National 'wants a future where people make their own decisions about their own money'.
"Now we can see in black and white why Steve Maharey and Labour are so opposed to National's fair tax plan.
"Labour stands against a country where 'people make their own decisions about their own money'.
"Mainstream New Zealanders will be incensed and disappointed by this comment."
Ms Collins is commenting on Mr Maharey's newsletter, titled Get Up Stand Up, and published on the Labour Party website.
"Steve Maharey has finally made it clear that Labour believes people should not be allowed to make decisions about how to live their lives, raise their children and spend their own money.
"According to Steve Maharey, those decisions are for a Labour Government to decide.
"National makes no apologies for taking a different view to Labour.
"Our policies in this election are based on personal responsibility and encouraging New Zealanders to work hard and get ahead through their own efforts," says Ms Collins.
