ACC politically motivated?
The Accident Compensation Corporation has not released draft levies in August as it has done in the past two years - the
only credible reason for this being an instruction from the Labour Government not to do so, says National's Agriculture
spokesman, David Carter.
"Last year, ACC released suggested levies for consultation on 5 August, and closed submissions on 16 September. In 2003,
suggested levies were released on 7 August with submissions closing on 18 September," says Mr Carter.
"But this year there has been a deadly silence, and the only credible reason is that rates are scheduled to rise, so ACC
has been told to lay low until after the election.
"ACC should be above such political manipulation, but when you look at some of the political appointments on the Board
of ACC, it is easy to see who their political masters are," says Mr Carter.
