ACT throws support behind Bob the Builder in Tauranga

ACT Leader Rodney Hide today called on ACT supporters in Tauranga to throw their support behind local National Party
candidate Bob Clarkson in a bid to unseat Winston Peters.
Mr Hide was outside Peters' electorate office in Tauranga asking ACT supporters to give Mr Clarkson their electorate
vote, and their Party Vote to ACT.
"It's crucial that National's Bob Clarkson beats Peters in Tauranga so hardworking New Zealanders get the tax cuts they
deserve," Mr Hide said.
"Peters has publicly opposed National's tax package, describing it as 'irresponsible', 'not credible' and 'unworkable'.
Peters losing Tauranga will allow National to deliver tax cuts.
"National has put together a good tax package, but ACT can improve it. We will drop the top personal and company tax
rate to 25c in the dollar immediately.
"Tax cuts are supported by an overwhelming majority of New Zealanders, but ACT must succeed for National to deliver
them.
"ACT candidate for Tauranga Frances Denz and her team will continue to campaign hard for Party Votes for ACT in
Tauranga, but I want to make it quite clear that ACT supporters should back Mr Clarkson.
"What's great about MMP is that people can strategically vote to support like-minded parties, like ACT and National, to
grow the centre-right vote.
"I wish Bob Clarkson all the best and I'm sure with ACT supporters giving him their electorate vote he will defeat
Peters on 17 September," Mr Hide said.
