ACT pleased National wakes up over Treaty & race relations

ACT Leader Rodney Hide today said he was pleased that National has reversed its position of the 1990s and now wants to put time limits on Treaty claims, stop race-based funding and race-based legislation.
"It's a marked turn around from the National Party who during the 1990s actively promoted racial preferences and opposed any time limits on settling Treaty claims.
"National opposed these very polices in government when ACT was promoting them. We are pleased for the country's sake that National has come to its senses.
"What we now need to do is implement the polices. It's going to take ACT to succeed this election for New Zealanders to return to the ideal that we judge people by their character and actions, rather than the colour of their skin," Mr Hide said.
