Dunne: Rob Moodie to stand for United Future
United Future leader Peter Dunne today announced that crusading lawyer Rob Moodie will be the party’s Rangitikei candidate.
“Dr Moodie is a fine candidate and needs no introduction to the public as a true champion of justice and the rights of individuals to achieve justice. The Berryman case is only the latest example of this,” Mr Dunne said.
“We’re absolutely delighted to be able to field a candidate of his standing and integrity. He would be an asset to any party.”
Dr Moodie said he was delighted to be the party’s Rangitikei candidate as United Future provided a voice and a force for families and that was otherwise completely missing in Parliament.
“United Future is the family party and it’s proven its credentials in the past three years, also notably with its zero tolerance for drugs - an issue I am passionate about.
“I am looking forward to the challenge of helping the party back into Parliament in even stronger numbers so that they can further keep the big parties honest,” he said.
“It is crucial for New Zealand going forward that either Labour or National has a support partner that offers stability, but also knocks off their rough edges and extremes.”
Dr Moodie stood for United Future in Wellington Central at the last election.
