Clark passes buck again on motorcade
“Helen Clark should just apologise to the staffers and the police she continues to hang out to dry over her speeding
motorcade case,” says National Party Deputy Leader Gerry Brownlee.
On last night’s televised leader’s debate, Helen Clark again blamed the police for their ‘policies’ but refused to
accept any responsibility for the high speed dash through the South Island.
“Helen Clark says she ‘accepted advice’. In other words, she made the decision and said yes, let’s do it.
“Now, in the heat of an election campaign, she’s blaming everyone else.
“Helen Clark’s story is completely different from that of sworn police officers - who aren’t fighting an election.
“No one believes she was not aware of the speed being travelled, and she even told one of her minders it was an ‘heroic’
drive.
“Helen Clark must move to clear up the confusion, by releasing the statement her lawyers gave to police,” says Mr
Brownlee.
