National shares Chamber of Commerce concerns and aspirations
National's Commerce spokesman, Brian Connell, says that strong similarities between the Chamber of Commerce's election manifesto, released on Friday, and National's own policies, will provide a strong platform in achieving reform under a National Government.
"The Chamber of Commerce recognises that 'business is the key wealth creator in our economy' and have called for 'a culture that encourages, rewards and celebrates success in all its forms'.
"National is totally committed to making this a reality," Mr Connell says.
Key policies highlighted in the manifesto are:
* Sustaining strong growth in our economy, particularly through productivity growth.
* Minimal compliance costs to allow New Zealand business to focus on core activities.
* RMA reform.
* Restoring confidence in our education sector.
* Greater control over the size of government.
* Tax cuts.
* Investment in New Zealand's infrastructure, especially roading and electricity.
* Repeal of the carbon tax, currently scheduled to be introduced by the Labour in 2008.
"The National Party has a set of comprehensive policies addressing each and every one of these concerns.
"We welcome the Chamber's intelligent contribution to political debate and look forward to implementing these essential changes after the election," says Mr Connell.
